NHRA’s Polly Zimmerman Retires
December 23, 2008
Polly Zimmerman retired from her NHRA duties last month but after having given her time to the sport she loved for so many years I’m sure it wasn’t an easy thing to do. She takes with her more fond memories than I’ll ever know, especially since she was good friends with NHRA founder Wally Parks and his wife Barbara, and I just wanted to write a note here on Auto Nationals to say thank you Polly. Enjoy your well deserved vacation.
I’m not one of the fortunate souls who ran into her or met her but she supports a sport I love and has done so for decades and so she is most deserving of all recognition from her peers. The link to the article posted by National Dragster is posted after the quote, go read it and enjoy the round of inspiration. If you have any memorable stories to share involving Polly please share them in a comment below.

Everyone knows Polly Zimmerman, and that’s what was making it so hard for her to say goodbye at the conclusion of the 44th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals, the final event for the longtime NHRA employee before her well-earned retirement. At the end of an emotional weekend filled with hugs and well-wishes, she was ready to return home.
