1966 Dodge Charger1966 Dodge Charger – I wanted to share pictures of this 1966 Dodge Charger because it has less than 55,000 miles and is in excellent rust free condition. As the years go by nature isn’t always kind to 42 year old muscle cars even if they are as understated as this 66 Charger in Milford Ohio.

1966 Dodge Charger Original 1966 Dodge Chargers didn’t come with the rims you see here but the current owner, who shall remain anonymous, has them tucked away for safe keeping. Some muscle cars make good candidates for full modifications and upgrades and others seem to make better resto projects to keep them original. In my opinion this particular 66′ charger would look best faithfully restored to factory condition.

1966 Dodge Charger Trim This 66 dodge has trim and bumpers that are still straight and true which is another rarity in cars of this vintage which makes it all the more desirable. The white and red paint scheme is true to how it looked when it rolled off the assembly line, a wise choice when painting an older muscle car, and the interior is still original and in great shape. The bucket seats have been well maintained too and it shows.

1966 Dodge Charger Interior The Interior on this 66 Dodge Charger still has all of the smaller trim pieces intact and a look at the dash reveals a working tachometer, power steering and an automatic transmission shifter. The steering wheel is crack free which is surprising given that vehicles of this age often have cracks from having been exposed to heat and sunlight for many years. It’s safe to assume it was kept indoors and away from the elements.

1966 Dodge Charger Interior The engine in this 66 charger is a 383 cubic inch breather but it doesn’t appear to have been under the hood for long. The engine compartment appears to have been painted and some of the hardware, hoses and even the filter housing is new. I’m of the opinion that it’s not a horrible thing to upgrade an engine in order to make a 42 year old car your daily driver and weekend cruiser BUT you’ve got to keep the original block together with any other part you replace.

1966 Dodge Charger profile What I like most about the 66 Charger is it’s fastback profile. Take a look at this picture and try to imagine it as a convertible. If you squint just right it almost shares the same profile as some high powered Mopar muscle cars doesn’t it? A GTO maybe? Adjust your head a little and it’s a mustang fastback perhaps? Ok, ok… stop squinting because the 66 Charger has a style all its own and it is a very capable sleeper if you think you’re going to speed away from it at a stop light. Own one? What do you like most?
