68 Camaro SS Pro Street in WI

1968 Camaro – I was doing my usual of browsing the Camaro For Sale section of the site to see what caliber of muscle car is on the market right now when this intimidating hugger orange 68 Camaro nearly jumped off the page at me. I’ve been a Chevy muscle car lover since childhood, actually I enjoy many current Chevrolet models too, but what stands out on this particular Wisconsin based 68 Camaro is its stance.
As you can see in these front and rear 68 Camaro pictures this Chevy isn’t stock. The car hints at having serious horsepower to back up its imposing appearance and that alone got my interest quickly. I needed to see more and this 68 Camaro didn’t disappoint.
As you can also see there is a mountain of rubber tucked neatly into the rear wheel wells and it turns out that was made possible by using a bulletproof Ford nine inch rear end to create extra room. Of course I next wanted to know if the rear end had been properly built and again this 68 Camaro didn’t disapoint, take a look.
This 1968 Camaro’s trunk has the tell-tale signs of being a pro-street camaro. Not only was the rear-end properly massaged to accept the massive meaty wheels but it has the required fuel cell and not so required nitrous setup. The gear ratio stands at 3.89:1 and the horsepower is converted into torque via a TH400 3 speed transmission connected to a chrome molly drive shaft on one side and a venerable 350 cubic inch motor on the other.

The 1968 Camaro’s Interior has not been neglected and after inspection one word comes to mind, clean! Black leather bucket seats with black trim everywhere, this ride is all about delivering the goods, nothing more and definitely nothing less. With 400+ horsepower on tap luxuries include Rally gauges, a 10 disk cd unit and power steering/brakes.
The sides of this 68 Camaro have the distinctive SS and 350 emblems and a set of side mufflers. From personal experience side mufflers can be problematic on many muscle cars. They don’t always line up properly and they can burn expensive paint jobs (and the odd ankle). In this case however careful attention to detail has set the entire car off in a good way. I’d still make it a habit of checking the tail piece on this muffler system every time I took it out for a drive. If a rock happens to knock the muffler tip out of alignment those massive Hoosiers risk having a meltdown at the next stop light.
